The Original "Perils of Eileen" . . .     a series

Life with Carole Moore . . .
Words for All Seasons

Focused on the life and times of Carole Moore . . . family-friendly humorist, feature writer, freelancer, writer of spy spoofs, ex-police officer, mother of two, wife of one, and general "Jill-of-all-Writing Trades." Need a writer? Here's your girl!

Carole Moore,

Welcome to The Humor Writer, which features the work of freelance writer and columnist Carole Moore.

For several years Carole has written clean, family-oriented humor, as well as articles about more serious subjects ranging from travel to business. She's also the author of a 16-part fiction adventure series featured on this site. Entitled "The Perils of Eileen," the story involves a 40-something housewife who wears big, white cotton underpants and discovers that being a spy is fraught with adventure and, well for lack of a better word, peril.

Carole isn't afraid to tackle the really tough issues in her writing – like potty training, puberty, remote controlitis and how to successfully incorporate donuts into one's diet. But after years of updating this web site each month with the help of Carol Daly, her intrepid and incomparable web mistress, and an increase in her other freelance work, she had to make a choice between work that she actually gets paid to do and continuing to update this web site for free.

She chose the paying work. Please don't blame her for selling out. She has a really, really good excuse: two budding teenagers who eat like longshoremen, make her drive them all over the city and plot ways to pierce extraneous body parts when she isn't looking.

In order to keep her kids in CDs and potato chips, Carole's had to bow to the lure of filthy lucre. And that keeps her busy. In addition to her weekly humor column, she also writes a monthly magazine column aimed at criminal justice professionals and a weekly crime prevention column called "What Cops Know," which can be found on the crime channels at CompuServe, Gateway.net and Netscape.

Carole's work appears in many magazines, both trade and consumer, which is a good thing since her children appear in many commercial venues – like Gap, Wal-Mart and Circuit City. She still writes humor, though, and if you're interested in following the follies and foibles of raising a family of alien beings, you can still access her weekly column at www.jdnews.com. It's cleverly listed under the "Columns" section.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you find something you like. Carole still receives and checks mail here, so please write and, if you're an editor with a job, feel free to contact her. Just – no lawn work, please. She's allergic to cut grass.

The Deadly Serious Stuff

The articles on these pages are meant to entertain, except for My Serious Side and Kids News Corner, which are of an informative nature.  Everything else should be taken with a grain of salt (at least), and sometimes with a couple of Tums or Tylenol.

And while I admit to being quite the clown at times, I do tell you this quite seriously. All the articles in The Humor Writer Magazine are copyrighted and remain the property of Carole Moore. I might give you permission to re-print, but you have to ask. This isn't Shakespeare, but it's all mine (unless it's the work of a guest writer, and you can't use their work without permission either.)
